REVEL BY FIRE
The ember typically symbolizes the end of a fire - the smoldering glowing remains. But where there is an ember we can also find a new life, for a glowing ember can ignite a new fire, even greater than before.
Fire and cooking is an intricate component of our human development. Learning how to harness fire for warmth and cooking was one of the first steps to making us into modern humans. Harvard biologist Richard Wrangham believes that fire is needed to fuel the organ that makes possible all the other products of culture, language included: the human brain.

Our current urban and modern lifestyles have removed much of us from nature and distanced us from this more primal pursuit of food than maybe ever before, but it still lingers deep in our psyche...an ember waiting to be stoked. We see elements of this in our love of BBQs and grilling, the warmth and comfort we find sitting by a fireplace, the camaraderie of gathering around a campfire. All over this country and even the world, we can find people gathered around a fire cooking something delicious. It's with this in mind that we seek to help you and your friends connect more with nature and the food you eat. All by helping you tap into the skills and resources in and around you.
This site is by no means a manifesto against all things modern. I am not saying everyone needs to get out there and hunt, gather and grow their own food. While understanding where your food comes from is critical and not to be overlooked. This site has a much more modest goal. When you can, get out there and experience food, cooking, and nature together with your friends and family. It's simpler and easier than you think and Revel by Fire will be there for you to help spark ideas, offer recipes, and products that can turn these experiences into realities.
